This system gets about 90% of the sawdust from my DeWALT 779 miter saw. MUCH better than the stock system. What's left (and it's very little) seem to be the denser bits that don't fly into the environment and into your lungs. I sensed and saw no dust flying around when cutting.

Too much blowback, even with my exhaust going through the wide rubber collector in front. I even hooked a hose to it, not as bad, but more than the original exhaust. I took it off and put the original one back on

This is an excellent product. Ordering was easy, shipping was quick. The installation video was clear and installation easy.
The one wish is that the flexible exhaust hose was longer. While the OEM dust port did not work as well (mainly because the rubber flaps would collapse too easily), I really liked the hose connection at the back of the sliding rails. Where the hose connection is now with the new dust collection, my dust hose can catch on the table, impacting the smooth motion of the saw either as I slide it or as I bring the blade head down. A longer exhaust hose that could reach all the way to the back of the slide would be perfect.
Otherwise, this is a very good product.

Hardest part of installation is getting the original dust collection tube off of the saw. The new Shop Nation approach is so much better and more efficient at pulling all the sawdust away (just remember to turn on the vacuum!
Also, being able to move my saw stand much closer to the shop wall was an added bonus.

The dust collection works much better than the snorkel tube. I removed the blade to make installation easier then could not reinstall the blade because it would not clear the dust collector. Removed the dust collector, reinstalled the blade and then the collector. Worked just fine. Guess I only need to remove the dust collector if changing the blade. Small inconvenience for the improvement.

until the blade is all the way down and back it does nothing so dust collection is ehh. and its so wide it catches on the fence all the time. had it on for 1 day cutting crown and other large trim and the rubber edge is junk from getting hung up constantly. removed. the stock dewalt works better

Great concept. It made it two days on the jobsite before a oak sliver shot through it. The aftermath of the 3d printed pack was explosive. Went through a rubber flap the first day. Then catastrophic failure the next. If the collector was made out of metal it would not have exploded.
You do have to remove a blade safety when installing this device.
Again great concept but no one can afford to have it fail every two days. We did not reach out to the company after this happened based on other reviews we have read. We're not saying don't buy it. We just didn't find the device to hold up compared to the stock part.

I have had your dust collector installed for about a week now on my DeWalt 780. It is a good improvement, but could use some fine tuning. I'm a residential finish carpenter who uses my miter box daily. I installed as per instructions, but the rubber flap has already torn off from the mounting screw on one side. I think the rubber flap needs to be narrower so it doesn't interfere with the back fence. Also the hose is interfering with with slider when connected to vac hose, I broke off one of the tabs already the connect to zip ties. I think it would be better it the dust hose 90 degreed up with elbow so it wouldn't interfere with slider on saw.

This is the second dewalt sliding mitre dust collecting I have purchased within the last 6 months.

Dewalt should really incorporate this into their stock product. Their OEM dust collection vent requires an enormous amount of real estate if you want to hook up a hose to it and it doesn't gather a whole lot of the dust. This Shop Nation dust collector probably grabs over 90% of the dust coming off the blade. There's no way anything is going to get it all, but it's a big improvement.

My DeWalt sliding miter saw has been making my shop a mess for the last several years. I bought a dust extractor but knew that it wouldn't help much with the stock DeWalt setup. I ordered the Shop Nation kit and installed it as soon as I received it. My dust extraction hose connected directly with no extra fittings. I cut a few test pieces and was amazed at the results! Why did I wait so long to buy?!

The Shop Nation dust chute works great; huge improvement. All the parts fit well, super easy to install, very clear instructions.

It was worth the purchase and I'm always happy to support independent innovation and the unit did operate more efficiently than the OEM intake but the hose routing was more awkward and the hose adaptor on the end of the hose did break after about six months.
The hose over the motor housing has to be improved in it's routing some how to reduce movement when using the saw and be a bit more secure.
Still, happy with the purchase.

Product worked ok for about 2 weeks until the 3d printed plastic shattered and launched pieces all over my shop while the blade was on. A small end cutoff piece must have hit it and it immediately shattered.

Was a bit difficult to install because of the saw's design - it's hard to get at one of the screws holding the blade guard. Once I was past that it was a cake walk. Initially I had to go wide on a piece of plywood to cut my zero clearance tape. Made a huge mess. The flap got caught in the blade :( - obvious user error. When i did some cuts on 2x4s the results were very impressive (as the photo shows). Far better dust control which is important since I'm building a new miter saw station inside my shop. YAY

I found that removing the blade made installing easier and safer. One of the screws to the old shoot was a bear to loosen. I needed to remove the blade to get the leverage to loosen it. Other than that installing was easy. It works way better than the old dust collector but you will still have dust to clean up when done

With my DWS780, the rubber skirt on the lower half of the dust collector has a tough time passing through the fence.
This happens due to the slider mechanism on the saw.
I’ve been able to remedy this by having the saw in the fully upright position before sliding it towards me to “hop the fence”. I.e. when cutting a 1x10, normally I wouldn’t have to put the saw all the way up to make the jump over 3/4” stock. (I hope that made sense)
The only true inconvenience is changing the cutting motion which has certainly become muscle memory over so many years. Otherwise a well thought out and produced product.

Love this thing. It works amazing and the company has fantastic customer service. My post office put it in the wrong mailbox, but the company sent out a new one to me ASAP. I bought it for a new workbench build, and it made a night-and-day difference in dust collection. It only took a few minutes to install, and it works really well. Love it. Worth every penny.

The shop nation dust collection system for the Dewalt mitre saw is easy to install - important to follow the video from start to finish. The actual dust collection is an improvement over the Dewalt 779 mitre saw tube collection system. It collects approximately 80% of the saw dust, which is an improvement over the original.
