I really want to love this product because it does catch more of the dust better than the factory collector but it just isn’t durable. The rubber piece gets shredded all the time and the plastic where the screws connect cracks and breaks when the rubber starts failing. I’ve bought two now as well as replacement rubber pieces but it’s not worth continuing to replace it. The design makes it difficult to cut 45 on the bevel because the rubber catches the bottom and the blade shreds or if your cutting a bigger piece the rubber drags and gets caught by the blade. It’s good for the occasional DIYer but for a contractor that uses their saw every day for hours, it’s not a lasting solution.

Definite improvement, and very worth it! Very well made, proper fit, easy to install. One tip I don't think I saw in the instruction video: be sure your upper back fences (on a DW779) are slid out to the sides enough so as not to catch the rubber dust-collector; mine caught and folded up a bit the first time, getting nicked by the blade (easily fixed with electrician's tape.)

The hood addition to the saw certainly helps especially when the shop vac filter gets cleaned..
Two things can be improved upon. First, I had difficulty getting the rubber shield/deflecter into the slots fully and installing the screws. As a result, it popped out a few times while using the saw before I could finally get it fully set. Maybe a deeper slot would help. Secondly, that same shield/deflecter could be a little longer, a 1/4" would help catch the saw dust getting under it. For the same reason, it could be a little wider.
But all in all a much better improvement over what I had. I specially like the way that the suction hose sits over the back of the saw instead of at the end of the sliding bars.

The workshop is under renovation, the saw does get used and I am very pleased with it, but not with the sawdust it creates. The sawdust problem will be rectified shortly once I’ve build the miter saw station.

Installed the shop nation dust collection system to replace the horrendous factory version on Dewalt DWS779. However this dust collection is just as awful. The factory version kicked all the dust out the back of the machine and the shop nation version kicks all the dust right back in my face. Everything is installed properly based on the instructions and numerous videos I watched but I can’t seem to figure out why the dust is kicking back towards the blade and not getting sucked up through my dust collection system. Extremely disappointed

Received and installed the dust collector kit on my DeWalt DWS780 dual bevel sliding compound miter saw. The video the the QR code directed me to was extremely helpful on the installation. Did a few test cuts to check it out, and it performed much better than the stock DeWalt collector. Today, I used it while cutting a lot of boards for a home project and was really impressed by how little dust I had to clean up after cutting. Definitely recommend this product.

It was sold as this incredible thing that gets rid of the sawdust. It’s better than the factory dewalt piece, (which isn’t saying much) but it still doesn’t collect most of the dust. It also got cut in the first two Minutes of using it so the rubber is slit.

Does a great job with sawdust and chips. Trying how best to route the hose so it is out of the way when using the saw. Also, hose adapters did not work with my Fein vac hose. I had to improvise. Overall, a great improvement to the factory setup.

Grabs almost all of the sawdust, a little escapes but the really fine stuff doesn’t stand a chance. Seems to work much better when I remember to turn on my vacuum.
Regardless, this is 100% better than the OEM tube. Very happy with the dust collection.

The saw itself is one of the best in the industry. The only reason I didn’t give it five stars is that the dust collector on it is absolutely horrible. It might gather 5 % of the saw dust. I bought an aftermarket collector that collects around 90% with a vacuum attached.
I also changed the blade to a 100 tooth Diablo. One of the best blades in the industry.

I installed this kit on a DWS782. Installation was straightforward after watching the video. Works great, but I did have to slide the right upper fence out a bit. The fence caused the rubber flap to contract the blade and chew it up a bit. My mistake for not noticing sooner. Using a magnetic bit helps with installing the chute.

I ordered one and install was easy and fast. I was cutting 45s when a piece that i cut broke the plastic. So I ordered another one and today same thing happened once again. Cutting 45s for a frame and the cut off piece smacked it and shattered the corner of the plastic and tore the rubber

It sucks in an excellent way. The one fault I thankfully caught before destroying the vinyl/rubber scoop was that on thicknesses or widths beyond a 2x4 you better be damned sure you’ve moved the slide to full in. If you don’t you’ll slice the scoop and ruin it.
The replacement from ShopNation is grotesquely over-priced but cheaper solutions are available ANYWHERE ELSE.
I don’t care for this as it prevents me from doing a super shallow cut along the upper face to minimize tearout.
This is a fault in the design, but cannot be solved so far as I can figure.
Learning how to work with it is essential. Overall, it does a bangup job of shuttling the cutting dust straight into your dust collector or shop vac solution.

Did not install it. Was reluctant to remove the factory-installed rear blade guard, which DeWalt recently upgraded to metal from plastic precisely because the plastic was getting broken by material kicked occasionally off by the saw blade.

Huge, and I mean HUGE improvement over the factory dust collection tube. It also allowed the saw to be moved closer to the wall since I no longer need space for a vacuum hose to be connected behind the slider bars. The only downside I have noticed, and it's not much, is that the new dust collector has to be removed (or significantly loosened) to change saw blades. Not a big deal for me, it might be for you.
