Ridgid & Delta Cruzer 12” Miter Saw Dust Collection

The upgraded dust collection chute is a game changer. The reduction in dust is night and day. I added it to my saw after I built my miter saw station and was absolutely thrilled right out of the gate. Unfortunately a short time after I bought it I accidentally launched a small hardwood offcut from lifting the saw up too early after the cut and blasted a huge hole through the brand new chute. I was bumming to say the least. I shot an email to Travis explaining what happened and asked if he would offer me a replacement at a discount and he did exactly that. Thanks a lot!!! One last pro tip…a 12” extra long Torx T20 screwdriver proves incredibly useful for the installation process of the screws that secure the chute!!!

Great accessory for the miter saw. Works very well. Just need to be careful with cutting small parts as the material might get kicked back into the dust chute. Ask me how I know! :c)

The dust collection is great. However, there are three major problems with this piece: 1) Durability. It is 3D printed and after just a few weeks it gave out because it melted too much and gave up. 2) It greatly limits the capacity of the saw. You can't do 45 degree cuts and you can't cut anything thicker than about 1-3/4". 3) It is a pain to install, and you have to either remove it to change the blade or you have to spend extra time trying to wiggle the blade past it. Any one of these I might be able to live with because, like I said, it does funnel dust well. However, all three of these make this quite honestly unusable. It needs more testing and improvement before you can charge $45 dollars for this.

Straightforward install with some extensions and small torx bits. Massively reduces the amount of dust flying around when paired with a standard shop vac. Just what the saw was missing!

Perfect fit, however it’s a tight window to attach with the blade on. Works infinitely better than the stock setup and paired with a zero clearance insert helps minimize dust clouds! This is a great addition to my Delta Cruzer - I also installed one on my Dewalt slider. I’m converting the cabin on my property to a workshop and that’s where the Delta resides. Dewalt is in pole barn.

I’ve been using miter saws for a number of years. Anybody that has knows the dust collection for them is awful. The delta cruzer I just purchased exceeds anything I have ever experienced. It is like trying to see through an Arizona dust storm. The ShopNation dust collector was the best $50 ish spent. Glad I don’t have to use the saw with my eyes closed now. Thanks for the improvement. The addition of the desk collection on the miter saw makes my workstation that much more pristine and organized without all the dust going into all of my tool bins. I’m very happy with this purchase and Travis should be very pleased with the design that he put out.

I recently purchase the 12 in. Dual Bevel Sliding Miter Saw to replace my old DeWalt saw. I order the dust collection kit from Shop Nation at the same time. I'm preparing to build a new miter saw station for the Rigid and wanted improved dust collection before starting the project. Installation of the new dust boot was simple and completed in 10 minutes with only 2 tools, phillips screwdriver and torx bit. All of the parts fit perfectly! I made a couple of cuts with the Rigid before installing the new dust boot. After installation, the saw dust escaping was reduced by at least 90%. For me this is a huge improvement in keeping my basement shop free of dust and wood chips. There are 2 drawbacks to using this system. You can't make miter cuts and the fence needs to be opened enough the clear the dust boot which can lead to chip out on the back of cuts. Since 90% of the cuts I make on the saw will be 90 degree cuts, this is not a big problem for me.

Love this genius Improvement! This dust collection chute is so efficient that I seldom have to sweep the garage floor after using the mitre saw!

The dust collection works great with thd addition of a shop vacuum. But, even without the vacuum , a night and fay difference. My only complaint was that the 2 1/2" vacuum adapter needed to be "tweaked" to fit the hose. Also the ridgid plastic for that adapter does not grip the hose well. A bit of tape fixes that. This particular part needs to be made of a rubbery material for better hose grip.

I wanted to support local small business so I ordered the version for the Delta Cruzer 10” with the hose adapter. First I wish there were instructions included. Seems self explanatory but I found out the hard way that if you install it with the blade off, which is much easier, you can’t get the blade back on. So you have to install it with the blade on, which is a pain. And you have to take it to take it off to change blades. Next negative is it limits the width and the thickness of stock you can cut because it hangs so low. It also hits the back of the saw so you have to use a low sacrificial low fence or won’t move all the way back, which limits the width cut, and a taller, steadier, fence. And lastly the hose adapter didn’t fit tightly on mine, so I used some tape to fill the gap. On the plus side if you’re cutting small stock the dust collection is better than the factory. Not sure if the other models have the same issues but for me its con’s outweigh the pro’s.

Bought the kit and it is fantastic. I'd say it reduced my dust by 80-90%. I really didn't expect it to work as well as it does but I am super happy at how well it works!

The chute interfere with 45 degree slanted mitre. The rubber chute has pulled out.

I have the Ridgid version of the Delta Cruzer. I've had a couple of the dust collection ports. The 1st one worked well and had no issues until I watched your video about "kick back". I tried to be careful but sure enough, a piece of oak trim shot through the casing. Really scary experience. Being more watchful now! Bought another one and still working great!

Dust collection has gone up tremendously. If I would venture a guess I would say I'm collecting at least 90% of dust and debris.

The dust chute works pretty good. It probably collects more then 50% more dust then the factory chute on my rigid 12 inch miter saw. Is it 100% no but much better then the stock piece. I had a slight issue with my chute and the manufacturer was quick to respond and stand by their product.

This is great if you are cutting small pieces. The chute is designed to cut boards no more than 2" tall. Anything over that is a recipe for disaster! Make sure you constantly check the set screws as they will loosen over time. Long story short, something came loose causing the entire chute to explode. What to do about dust collection for the Ridgid or Delta saws?? - Don't buy them and definitely don't buy this product.

The rubber piece hangs down low and if you have the fence on the high setting the blade will cut the rubber piece. Not a big deal for me but does a great job sucking up dust

The dust collection works well, but needs to be stronger to stand up to larger wood chip kick back in the past I have gone through 2 boots that cracked because of larger wood chips. Glenn Henchel

This dust shroud has improved my saws dust collection by 100% in my opinion. I no longer squint behind my safety glasses when I use my Delta Cruzer mitre saw. Its fit and finish are excellent. It works so good ,when I first install it , however I have destroyed 3 of them ……. I think the vacuum suction pulls small pieces into the spinning blade and causes a destructive result , without the dust shoot my shop is a mess , with the shoot in place it’s a game changer . Mr Johnson

While it is well built, it did not function the way I expected. If you have your saw permanently mounted in a shop and all you cut is cabinet boards this would be for you. If you are a contractor that hauls your saw from site to site and cut varying thicknesses of lumber, I would not bother. The chute itself hangs so low that if you are trying to cut 4x4 or 6x6, you cannot. It also makes changing blades a giant pain because you have to remove the chute first. The hose adapter did not fit my Craftsman wet/dry vac. I assume the adapter is meant for dedicated dust collection systems in a shop. Again, it was well built and thought out, but if you use your saw for more than cabinetry, don't bother.

it would be helpful to put direction in packet. Tore the one ordered and had to go online to find out to mount It is now held on by duct tape at over 50 dollar . I will have to wait awhile before buying a new one

The first one I bought shattered when a piece of lumber hit it . it catches dust very very well. I just wish it was not 3-D printed and was made out of her more durable substrate.

Improved dust collection by 100% - Factory dust collection was horrible!

Works well for straight cuts. Cumbersome to remove for an angle cut. A modification to snap on and off would make it user friendly while leaving a dust collection function. Also, I blew out the back with a small cut off. Duct tape.✌️

I purchased a saw dust collection attachment for my new Delta Cruzer 12" saw in October '22. It installed quickly, but required some adjustment to keep from contact with the blade. It collected a significant amount of dust, until I shot a piece of maple thru it; my fault. I installed the second unit and it fit perfectly. Safety Tip: Secure your work pieces.

What a difference. This does a much better job than my old method.

Vendor sent product to the wrong address. USPS could not deliver or return item to sender. Emailed vendor an was told there is nothing they can do.

Installed and works great. The YouTube video was great point out where the screws are located and recommended tools to reach them. Very helpful

Delta Cruzer 12" Just installed this on my miter saw, WOW, works like a champ. At least 95% of dust collected. GREAT PRODUCT.

I have a 12” Delta Cruzer and this was well worth the cost. Dust collection was horrible on this miter saw. Before I’d be covered in saw dust when I made a cut. Now, it doesn’t capture everything…which he states in his video…but I’d say it’s about 95%-98% better. And that’s using a Ridgid 16 gallon shop vac for dust collection.

Exploding chute Like many others, I just ordered my second Rigid dust collector chute because of flying offcuts causing catastrophic damage. I did see your video about how this could have happened and how to replicate it. Your recommendation, which is something that I always do, is to keep the offcuts cleared after making your cuts. However, my issue occurred when I was making a 45* cut and the small offcut vibrated/danced around and got caught up in the blade before it came to a stop causing the damage. So while your test probably yielded the best fix, using a zero clearance fence, you only made straight cuts and neglected to factor in using the saw at different angles and what happens to the offcuts at those settings, which is what happened in my case. Anyway, kudos to you for spending the time and effort to create a product that actually works.

It took quite a sometime to receive, but let me tell you it was well worth the wait. The chute reduced the amount of dust by 90% and that’s with just a shop vac. Will be ordering a 2 cycle dust collector after the holidays. Thanks shop nation, good job!

Don't cut anything short. Can't use a zero-clearace fence It did pretty well collecting dust for the first 10 minutes. Then I cut a piece a little short that got thrown into the chute. The chute is toast now. The problem is that the chute doesn't work with a zero-clearance fence unless you make that fence short (kind of defeats the purpose of a zero-clearance fence). I'm not sure if I will replace it or just put the original back on and deal with all the dust.

Doesn't work with bevel cuts Although this works great for 90 degree cuts, I am not able to do 45% bevel cuts with this installed. I did not know this when I bought it, and would not have made this purchase had I known this. Why spend $500 on a dual bevel sliding miter saw if I cant use it.

Works as advertised! Factory dust collection on the 12" Delta Cruzer is terrible. Bought "The Works" and initially only installed the chute/flap with factory dust hose port connected via 16' Cen-Tec vac hose to my shopvac/dust deputy. Performed great! Recently upgraded to the Dust Deputy 2.5 and ran 2.5" clear piping through my workbench up to the saw to utilize the larger 2.5" hose adapter with flex hose to a blast gate. 2.5" dust collection run from the shopvac all the way to the saw. After a few weeks of use and marveling at the even MORE improved dust collection, the black rubber flap got sucked into the blade. This is probably a result of too much power/airflow from my shopvac/dust deputy 2.5 combo! Will need to source a new flap that is less flexible or trim it down a bit. Would buy again.

clearance failure I bought the dust collector for my 12" Delta Cruzer. It really improves dust collection as long as you do not attempt to lay the saw down and make a 45 degree bevel cut. The collector will not clear the saw fence. I real design flaw. Since it is 3d printed one would think that could be corrected. If it is, Ill buy again

Poor product without customer service Bought the dust extraction for the delta cruzer Could not get alignment to fully install. Dust chute is not long enough to securely attach hose. Rubber part kept coming off. Contacted for help and got a bunch of empty talk and no assistance with several requests

This is a very good product. I connected a 2 1/2" hose to my vacuum and the difference with this chute is huge. Good value. I have read reviews and Shop Nations review of his own product. The breakage noted would only happen if you are not being careful the way we should be . I expect that at some time in the future ill make that mistake again myself. The only issue I have is that this chute limits the bevel to less than 30°. I am doing a lot of trim in my house and shop so this might be an issue in the near future as I bought this Ridged saw specifically to be able to do compound miters and wide boards.

Not good for real world conditions ... Yes, this shroud works great ... if you are doing straight or miter cuts with material that is not very tall. And no, you absolutely cannot do 45 degree bevel cuts. The body of the dust shroud gets in the way. But I'm redoing a house with 1x6 baseboard and it doesn't work worth a damn. The material is NOT too tall for the saw, it's too tall for the shroud. Both the rubber and the hard plastic get in the way. Since you absolutely cannot do 45 degree bevel cuts, you must stand up the 1x6 to try and make a 45 degree miter cut. This is where you run into the road block. I even removed the rubber piece, but the hard plastic still hits the material. I tried shimming out my material about an inch from the fence. This got the hard plastic should to clear the material, but the blade cover now has an issue with the material being that far away from the fence. AND ITS DANGEROUS! So I end up fighting the saw because of design flaws in the shroud. Can't tell you how much time I wasted today monkeying with it. I'm putting my original manufacturer's should back on tomorrow and moving my cuts outside. Made quite the mess in the house today and won't do THAT again. Damn shame I sold my almost new DWS780 yesterday because I thought this was my solution to the dust collection issues of the Delta Cruzer 26-2251 12 inch sliding compound miter saw. Keep looking ...

I put the chute on my Rigid and test cut o... I put the chute on my Rigid and test cut once. The small cut off blew thru the back of it. Seller made it right though wasn't his fault. You have to watch out for small off cuts other than that, it's a great improvement on dust collection

Dust collection game changer I bought my ridgid saw a few months ago, and, yes, factory dust collected was more like dust dispersal. It’s raining here today, so I thought what better time to do some of the interior trim work I need to get done. My first cut, I forgot to turn on my shop vac, and already this was way better than the stock chute! I remembered to turn in the vac for subsequent cuts and OH MY GOODNESS, such a big difference. A must buy for the ridgid or delta cruiser models.

Quality was good, and yes, the installatio... Quality was good, and yes, the installation was annoying as many others have said, but not nearly as difficult as others have said either. Use a long extension in a ratcheting driver handle - that way we you actually get the bit seated, you can finish it and torque without fighting it as much. One note as it was my first order from this shop, the shipping time is definitely on the longer end of the range provided. Absolutely not a complaint, just an FYI as I have always ignored the longer ranges provided and assumed it would be faster than what you are told, and this one definitely was not. Just something to keep in mind if you are working on a shop project and eager to keep going when you order this.

Great modification! I absolutely love this product. As you stated, it doesn’t solve the entire dust problem, but it does solve over 90% of it! The only question I had, is there a version that allows me to swap sawblades without having to remove the dust chute?
