NOTE: This solution is designed SPECIFICALLY for the Ridgid models R4251 and R4241 model numbers. It will also fit the Delta Cruzer models 26-2251 & 26-2241 but there is a separate listing for the Delta version

This product fixes all the issues with the Rigid miter saw. I was able to replace the dust catcher and appreciated the well thought out video. It told me I needed an extender for my driver and it guided me through the install process. I had ordered the elbow to connect the shop vac and hose bracket but haven't used those yet. I installed it and had to wait a couple of weeks before I could use the saw. Today I got it all hooked up and ran through many cuts. It works like a champ and cut the dust way down in my garage. I appreciate the hard work that went into making this design flawless. Seriously, it does an amazing job and catches more dust than I thought it would. Well done on this design and your products

It works good but the rubber skirt gets sucked into the blade and blocks the chute. Might need a stiffed material.

Boy are you right. My Ridgid 10" miter saw is a confetti machine. I installed your chute and, as if by magic, dust actually got collected. Seriously, the design is great. The flexible "flap" continues to direct dust when riding over large cuts. I'm a 3d Maker and this is one of the best applications of the technology I've run across (even counting the Bat-a-Rang I printed over Christmas).

The dust collector works well, but I have two issues.
1) Although I don't change blades on my miter saw often, the need to first remove the dust collector is annoying.
2) A more serious problem is the outside edges of the rubber piece that gathers much of the offshoot from the blade, continually gets sucked into the dust collector and effectively closes the gaps up to the blade. Either need to trim it a bit or add some kind of stiffener.

A noticeable improvement to dust collection. By no means perfect but so much better than not having the chute. 2 issues for me. First off it’s fragile, one small off cut sucked up will shatter the plastic and render it useless. Ask me how I know. Also hinders the bevel capacity. Saw obviously wasn’t designed for a chute like this. Sure you can open the fence to max width but then you lose some stability with taller pieces. Is it an improvement… absolutely. Is it perfect, nope. Am I still buying them after breaking them… yep. Just my honest opinion.

I’m pleased with the fit and ease of installation; it does require widening the space in the fence to allow for clearance for the chute so that will impact my ability to cut shorter pieces that need support from the fence. Also, I haven’t yet noticed a discernible difference in the amount of dust collected, but I suspect that’s due to my crappy shop-vac setup rather than an issue with the chute. We’ll see after I install a better shop-vac and hose setup. Overall I’m happy with my purchase.

It is great. The only issue I had is with the vacuum being to powerful (a big dewalt) and bending the rubber flap. I got to modified it for the rubber not to be sucked by the vacuum. Can share pictures.

It definitely improves dust collection. Having a long T20 screwdriver is a must. The dust chute rubs on the blade which was not expected, it doesn't seem to affect the operation of the saw. While installing didn't take long -about 20 minutes - I think I got lucky installing the two T20 screws because visibility is nil. Can't bevel cut at 45 degrees but that was explained upfront. Changing the blade will be more difficult since it requires the removal of the chute. It does the job that it was designed to do, which is improving dust collection. I can see where Ridgid/Delta compromised on their design in order to make it where you can do full bevel cuts and easier blade changes. If I was to make bevel cuts often, this chute would not be a good option.

only...tiny tiny drawback...hook up suction ans suction was such that the black diverter chute (flex chute closest to blade) got sucked inside tube and altered flow......have to figure some way to keep it more ridgid so that does not happen.

LOVE the product. Works GREAT !!! but I would like to see the rear of the chute reinforced a little better. If I am cutting small pieces, sometime they will be kicked up into the chute and I have broken 3 already. Over all a GREAT product.

I’m sorry to say that the installation of the new Rigid R4251 dust was a complete failure for my saw. The pictures attached will illustrate what a disaster it was. I installed the new collector last night and then tried it out today. I was cutting a 22.5 line on a 2x4 and it made a cut for about 3” and then the whole thing exploded. I was not hurt though completely startled! I also have little bits of plastic all over my garage workshop!
I followed all the installation instructions and tried the saw several times before attempting to cut the board. All seemed to be in order until it wasn’t!
I really wanted to improve my dust collection on my saw but this doesn’t seem to be the devise unless there was something defective about the one I used.
I am interested to hear what your thoughts are on this issue.

It collects more sawdust than I expected. The threads for the mounting screws were a nice touch, and a necessity. I wished I got this 3-4 years ago, my work area would have appreciated this.

I am very happy with how the system collects dust, it works great. I do not like the idea that in order to change blades, I need to remove the system. That seems counterproductive to me.
I also suggest that you make the collar a little deeper on the hose adapter. My hose keeps falling out. I am planning on getting a dedicated hose that I can quickly connect to that will be away from all the movement on the saw. I am sure that will help.

Works fantastic! Went from heavy dust all over to barely noticeable. Before I even cut the first piece of wood, I could actually feel the suction from the dust port. I purchased "The works" but find my original dust port worked well and didn't interfere with the handle so I left that on and will keep the Shop Nation one as spare.

I thought you should know that, as I told you in a few emails, when you call something "the works" and show everything in the picture, including the expandable hose, you should include everything! Including the expandable hose. Not exclude that then charge them again to reorder and shipping.

I've had the chute for over a year and overall feel it has improved dust collection. Most of that time it was it my garage workshop and i was just do basic 90 degree cuts.
took it to an on site job and realized it does limit movement of the bevel - If you have the saw tilted to 45degrees the cute gets caught on the edge of the fence guide. Which requires you to lift the blade up move pass the fence, then lower again instead of doing a smooth pass. Was an ok work around until I didn't lift high enough, resulting in bumping the chute into the blade. Chute is now in multiple pieces.
So if you don't use the bevel feature - buy it. If you do a lot of bevel cuts, i recommend sticking with the stock chute.

Hope this review finds everyone well! It's a great idea but a tough execute. I will say the dust chute does improve collection a lot. It does have a few limiting factors such as cut depth of work pieces and the effort of changing a blade on your saw. You must remove the boot each time you have to change the blade and it being 3D printed the longevity isn't there and in my case I was cutting 1-7/8 cherry and a small piece of an end cut blew out and broke the back of the chute very easy. As said before great idea definitely could you some looking into I think I'll stick with the OEM chute and do a little more cleanup and not purchase another one.

If I would have known just how horrible the saw dust collection was going to be on my Ridgid miter I would have chose another brand. Shop Nations retrofit kit is a game changer. 100% of the saw dust is not captured but my guess is by the lack of saw dust after a dozen or so cuts at least 75% of the saw dust was captured into my shop vac. That is a game changer. I was to the point where I was not using the miter saw because of the mess, now it is almost a non issue. Two thumbs up!

Dust collection is great but miter cuts are impossible on baseboard larger than 4” tall and for crown molding. I find myself removing the piece when transitioning between jobs.

The part works well, but I work a lot with rough cut or old barn wood and twice now a fairly small piece of wood has hit the part and it shattered. I’ve bought 2, shattered both, and won’t likely get a 3rd.

I am having some issues with my particular part, it appears the screw on the left hand side is not engaging the dust flap so it has slipped and gotten cut. In one picture you can see what happens when you don' t check the clearance between your fence and a 45 degree cut, lesson learned. Also getting the stock part out and getting the dust collector re-installed was a royal pain. Getting the right angle to do it and be able to see was hard. Not the fault of the dust chute, I blame Rigid.
Overall the instructions are great, the quality seems great and the packaging was really well done.

It’s a bit expensive but there is an obvious difference between this and the stock dust catcher. The stock is more like a dust distributor with sawdust going everywhere even with a vacuum. This does catch easily 90% of the sawdust. I wish it had a smaller vacuum attachment but most shops probably have bigger vacuum hoses anyway.

I use this saw for about a year before buying this. I knew about just didn't pull the trigger. Finally got frustrated with all the dust and all I can say is wow what a difference. It should come standard. It's not perfect but way better then I expected. Only minor complaint is it seems a bit thin especially around the sharp spinny bits. We'll see how well it lasts.

Going to be honest I knew about this product long before I bought my delta, so I knew the dust collection was abismal. Well a year later decided to buy this finally. I put it on and did 10 cuts and was amazed at the difference, I would say the biggest difference is not getting hit in the face with saw dust and chips on every cut. Very well done!

The piece which you attach your shop hose to does not fit a standard sized hose from a Ridged shop vac well at all……so I just continue to use the stock piece and it works great.

It is so much better than the factory dust chute that is 100% for sure and it works as it should and is designed for. With that all being said, yes it is a bit of pain to install, gotta have the correct torx size and also have it be long enough to get right up into the throat of the chute, now there is nothing that Shop Nation can do about this, just gotta be patient is all. This is my third time buying this product due to the previous 2 shattered due to cutting small pieces off, it is just something that happens time to time with a miter saw. Shop Nation released a video going over this exact issue and the tests he did to try and mitigate this issue, thinking it is just a part of doing business and purchasing a "consumable" part. Bottom line, this chute is so effective that yeah when I shatter one I go out and buy another,

Purchased one a year ago. Upon the first few tries i got some kickback that shattered my dust collection. This one appears to be. Design improvement. That, along with better shop practices, I can say this does the job and does it well.

Fit my Delta Cruzer 12" perfectly. Really makes a difference with dust collection, too. Wasn't difficult to install, especially using an extension drive, which really helps (and a flashlight). Highly recommend this upgrade, it has significantly cut down on sawdust around the saw after every cut! Only downside is the price, I find it a little high for a plastic 3D printed part. However, it came with the screws and two rubber sheets, even though only one is needed, so that was nice. Overall, I would purchase it again, so I guess the price really isn't too high.
