Factory chute vs. Shop Nation
See the difference
Factory dust chutes leave a gap right where the blade throws the most debris. Ours is engineered around the Skil Sliding Miter Saw Model MS6305-00 to close it and steer chips into your hose, so they stop ending up on the floor, the fence and in your lungs.

You picked the Skil Sliding Miter Saw Model MS6305-00 for its power and accuracy. Its dust collection is the one weak spot. This chute is engineered around that exact saw, so it fits like it came from the factory, only better.

FAQ
Questions, answered
Which saws does it fit?
It's made specifically for the Skil Sliding Miter Saw Model MS6305-00. Match the model number on your saw's label before ordering.
Do I need a vacuum or dust collector?
Yes. The chute steers debris into your hose, so you'll need a shop vac or dust collector connected to it to get the full benefit.
How hard is it to install?
It's straightforward. It bolts into the same spot as the factory chute, with no cutting, drilling or modification to your saw. Most installs take a few minutes.
Can I go back to the factory chute?
Yes. Nothing on your saw is modified, so you can put the stock chute back on any time.
How much of a difference does it really make?
A big one. The chute closes the gap where factory chutes let the most debris escape, so far more chips end up in your vac instead of on the floor, the fence and in the air. Read what 77 woodworkers say in the reviews above.
I have to admit that I was somewhat skeptical.
But, I figured that any improvement over the factory system would be a plus.
The unit installed easily and clearances were nice and tight.
I used the saw for about an hour today, cutting some extreme angles.
I was stunned at how much dust it collected and how very little was on the saw when I was finished.
Kudos to Shop Nation for a great design and execution!
Hello Fellow Engineer,
My previous miter saw had a collection bag (that is to say NO dust Collection). I recently purchased a Skill Sliding Miter saw and added your Dust Collection attachment. The dust collection is vastly improved. Instead of a plywood base underneath the saw, I have two Horizontal supports between which is a vertical downward funnel with 4"connection to my dust collector and branch to a 2.5" connection to the dust port on the saw. See the attached file. Instead of a complete enclosure I built what I call a "backstop" that together collects most of the dust (except for the infrequent bevel cuts). Note, I tried to include a CAD file but this would only accept a JPEG file.
It works great, thanks much

Cutting a 2x10, watch the flap. It absolutely buckles upward when cutting, leaving a huge gap right where the sawdust is thrown, not to mention all of the sawdust that it misses on the sides. A zero clearance insert would help, but it's still going to to buckle cutting thicker wood. I see very little improvement over my the stock chute.
The new dust collector helps gather more saw dust than the OEM. It also keeps most of the saw dust from collecting behind the saw. The extra dust now ends up in front of the saw and is easier to clean up.
The rubber fence damages/cracks easily from normal straight cuts when making long miter cuts from either direction. I also don’t feel like it has made any visible difference from
When using the stock dust collector. The only time I notice improved dust collection is when I make a straight vertical cut. If I slide the saw towards or away from me, the rubber guard drags against the wood and gets damaged.
It took a minute to figure out on my particular saw how to install the smaller set handle, but it works incredibly well for dust collection and once I figured out my specific issue it took only a few minutes to install. I cannot picture a better upgrade for a miter saw.
A couple of the parts were a tight fit, but I was able to get it all assembled and the improvement to dust collection was great. A word of caution when cutting thick stock: the rubber flap can bend up into the blade on deep cuts. I already have about a 1/2 inch cut in mine from cutting 8/4 stock.
Easy to install and works well. Once you get used to the increased profile, it works great. Obviously, there still some dust. It is a miter saw after all. But, there is significantly less dust flying around. Absolutely recommend.
Have only used it a few times cutting some trim for baseboard but it seems to be collecting more than the stock one that came with it . It does seem to be well made and was easy to install. So far i am satisfied with it.
It arrived quickly and well packaged. Support people were very helpful. I have only used my saw a couple of times since putting on the new dust collector, but it worked a lot better than the original dust collector. Getting ready for a new project and can’t wait to see how it goes. Thanks
I really like the new dust port for my Skil miter saw. It greatly reduces the amount of dust as compared to the original part that came with the saw. The only things that didn't work were the two little bolts (#8-32) that go on the right side (looking straight ahead at the saw). They were a little bit too short to reach the threads so I had to get some longer bolts to replace the ones that came in the package.
Initially the unit took most of the sawdust but in cutting thicker material than 3/4 inch, it was throwing most of the sawdust around. Have to check and see if I can address that. Thinner material works great! Had to get longer button head screws, no big thing, just a heads up for other buyers. Thank You, worth the investment for sure. Paul Proulx
Bought one for my Bosch saw and loved it. Huge difference. I've since bought this for 2 of my 3 Skill saws. Big difference even before putting a Vac attached. Looks like I'll be buying a 3rd.
Once I had it installed, it works well. I do not have the stock blade in my Skil saw and I needed to add some washers to the thumb screws in order to prevent the thumb screws from actually touching the blade. It works extremely well after I did that. If 4.5 stars was an option I would have rated it at that level.
I bought a dust collector for my Skil combination slide saw, and there was one part that fit behind the blade and attached to the housing. This part for some reason the attachment screw inserts were to deep so the screws wouldn’t catch. So, I took it off and through it back in the box and thought $70 wasted. The next morning I took a chance and contacted customer service be email and explained my situation. The process went like this, support- please tell us what model you ordered for and let’s check to see if it’s the correct model. Me - took pictures of the model ID plate and the situation and sent it back. The next morning I was contacted by email with the statement “yes, you ordered the right part and we are sorry for your inconvenience and will rectify this for you” . Three days later a new part was received by me and it fit perfectly. I even think it improved the sound of my saw, not to mention the dust collection. If anyone states that this company’s customer service is unsatisfactory (I say to you well you get the drift). Thank you for being so honest and helpful.
I was hesitant, my original Skil dust collection chute seemed to do okay. But in watching the videos and reading the reviews, I thought I'd take a chance. The new chute arrived fairly quickly and was well packaged. The instructions were a nice surprise - I could actually read them! (none of that 8-point font stuff). Easy to install and a perfect fit. Tried it out right a-way, and was impressed - I could see wood dust flying like a vortex down the new chute. Very little dust escaped. I am very happy with my purchase.
The installation went fine. The video was very helpful. I was disappointed that it did not seem to improve much if any over the stock chute and was surprised to learn that it would have to be removed to rotate the head to a 45 degree position.
I'm a firm believer in reading directions. Having done that several times, the installation was a breeze, and while not perfect, it did eliminate the lions share of the dust on my miter station.
Thanks
