This listing is for the digital plans for the "Versatile Workbench" as featured on the Shop Nation YouTube channel which is sure to increase your garage shop efficiency! This piece of shop furniture is intended to be used as an out feed table for your table saw, general workbench, and/or assembly table. The design is modular in nature so customizing to fit your exact needs is fairly easy. The workbench measures 72" long by 48" wide by 34.5" tall. The height was chosen so that it would work with most table saws, who have a height of 35".
There is a full build series on my YouTube channel (Shop Nation) if you would like to follow along. The first build video is set to release in late January 2021.
The approximate cost for building the workbench as designed with all of the bells & whistles is ~$1600 (this will of course vary for everyone)

No. This is a digital download of the build plans, not a finished piece of furniture or a kit of parts. Nothing ships to you, and you source the lumber and hardware yourself.

Can I print the plans?

First things first... I live in North Texas and if there is a place where you can buy 2x4s that don't look like a river on a map, please tell me where it is. I laminated 3/4" plywood to "make" my 2x4s. Honestly, I think it worked better than dimensional lumber. The table is too short for me and my saw. I added 3 1/2" to the height to get it just below the hight of my table saw... instructions are clear, easy to follow and I especially like the cut diagrams. I am going to use Matt Black Melamine for the work surface instead of MDF. The table is done except for the top. Next I'm going to get the Miter Station boxes and the top done so I can use the work surfaces and then I will start in on the storage modules and drawers on both projects. Thank you for the easy to follow detailed plans and at a very reasonable price I might add...
Just finished phase 1, got the base and the top done. Right now underneath is just scraps storage until I figure out how I want to customize cabinet inserts. Since I have my router table built into my saw I dont need one in my work bench and I added a vice to one end. Fun project and these plans were easy to follow.
Plywood was 23/32, not 3/4, so I had to modify the plans a little when my drawers didn’t come out right. Ended up with 1/8” gap, but I figured it out early and got it fixed
I have not decided on the top assembly trim yet. So going to but that on the back burner for now. On to page 40. My email is douglasf@flash.net. The emails are now being set to my Wife. Change that to my email if you can. No worry if you can't. Thank You. Having fun , Life is short. 😀

Instructions are very well written and easy to follow. It was also nice to have the videos to supplement any areas I was confused by. All in all, I am happy how everything turned out. Any mistakes were mine and not a fault of bad instruction.
My first build and pretty happy with the outcome, used some leftover scraps, so I had to make some adjustments for the build, will be adding more features to it, very happy with plans.
To say the plans are very detailed would be a great understatement, 50 pages printed front and back. Travis does a great job of adding little notes in the plans to remind you of order of operations or where you might want to customize things. I went off script by using a lot of hardwoods like red oak and hickory and adding a melamine top instead of MDF. Over all I am very satisfied with the plans, with one minor exception. I think a limit of power point is that in some places it is hard to see whether the marks are on center, left edge, or right edge, when marking where some of the supports go. This makes a difference as you build out the cabinets to go in the bench. Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are not using true 3/4" plywood the measurements will be off. That's not a flaw in the plans... that's a flaw in buying cheap plywood from the box store. On the bright side I got experience building all the drawers twice. I also need to figure out what to do with the space used for the dust collection since I am running this off my main dust collector... but I'll let need determine what I put there. Right now it's probably going to be a place for jig storage and a mounted Moxen vice. Would I buy more plans? Absolutely. The final product is great and I am extremely happy with it.
Great plans and very entertaining videos! I’m combining these plans with a flip top Mitre saw plan and am very happy with the details of this table plan!
Travis' medium workbench with a router insert first seen on his YouTube video was the exact workbench I had been looking towards for years, and when I heard the plans were available in metric, I jumped at the opportunity.

Haven’t started the build yet. Plans are detailed, instructions seem clear. However, the small parts bins by Tafco are no longer available at Lowe’s. Searching for an alternative that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg is difficult. I want to have these bins before I start the build so everything fits.
The plans were excellent. Very detailed and easy to understand. I purchased these plans after watching the full video on the build. A video that I found very interesting and entertaining. I look forward to future Shop Nation projects.

Very Through plans. Nicely produced. easy to follow and the modular nature of the build makes it easy to modify for your needs.
You won’t find more detailed, well laid out plans anywhere. That said, be aware the shop vacuum spec’d in the plans is no longer available in the size the plans are built around. The current version of the vacuum is about an inch and a half wider and won’t fit with the dust right in the space used in the plans. I just modified the plans to make the drawers on that side of the bench smaller so I could increase the size of the space for the vacuum and dust right. Not a big deal. Just a heads up. Overall extremely pleased.
easy to follow and comprehensive plans. A little tricky to work out knock on effects when deviating from the plan such as accommodating different size accessories\tooling.
Please take pity on our poor struggling low toner printers and change the accent color in the guide! I know orange is on brand, but having to print black and white, the orange disappears entirely.
I’d have also appreciated more clearly noting which parts on the cut list belonged to each modular insert. If someone isn’t including a router table or other options, it’s hard to break that out as written.
Outstanding plans that I downloaded. I was able to modify them to perform more to my needs but they were so absolutely detailed that I easily followed them and never got lost. It worked out outstanding. What I really liked was the modular nature of the plans. i am going to build this thing in stages based on my very particular needs and budget. Anyway... i will be happy to purchase from you guys again for sure. Thank you. Really. thank you.
in the process of assembly but I have the main frame and top complete. I am using it as my outfeed table currently. I love the concept of it being modular in construction and am able to use it while proceeding with the rest of the units.
I read the download instructions and together with the video it’s a very easy to follow - and possibly customize? - process.
