I was at first confused by the installation video because it said that if you didn't have Dewalt DWS779 or DWS780 mitre saw you have the wrong installation video and stop and go look for the correct one. Well after searching the Shop Nation website I finally figured that the same instruction are used for my Dewalt DW718 Mitre saw. You should clear that up for future buyers.
It all fit nicely and improves the dust collection by multiple times. Thanks

So far the unit seems to perform well. Had some issues getting is attached with the screw hole inside the unit. Hard to see and had to feel my way to insert it. Would have liked to have the proper screwdriver included. I did not have the correct size but the one I used worked. I would recomend this product because it seems to work much better than my original unit.

The dust collection attachment for my DeWalt compound miter saw works great. I had already purchased a competitors attachment first and was unhappy with it. It used the existing built in dust port and it was completely useless. Your product works much better.

install went well once I found the screw holding the dust chute plastic pipe. This was the DeWalt DW718 first out before the chute in the videos on the Shop Nation web. You need to take the back panel (black) off and up front you will see the screw. Once this screw was out the plastic chute came right out, rest was easy. And it works great.

Cut mast supports for my sailboat and I was happily surprised by the very little saw dust that was not caught. Clean up is now super simple. Cutting a ton of lumber for shelving in the coming weeks and saving the clean up will be great.

Installation did not go well. Your video does not work for the DW718. After tearing out the old dust collector, finally found a hidden screw. The back cover has to be removed to see it. After that, everything went fine. With the original dust collector, there was dust everywhere. Now, barely any dust at all. Works great, thank you!!!

The overall design works great for dust collection. I noticed an improvement immediately. However the first small cutoff kicked up by the blade broke the plastic just above the rubber flap. This happened on the first or second day of use. Some reenforcement needs to be added in this area. If this upgrade is made I would definately recommend this product. For those of us who use their saw everyday this is not a product that will last long term.

Although the instruction card did not cover the DeWalt saw specified, I was able to install the device successfully. It works pretty well but you really need to provide an instructional video that applies to the particular saw and not an infomercial.

I will say that I was skeptical. I ran into a little trouble on the install. I had purchased my saw from a friend a few years ago. The saw was actually missing two bolts from the blade guard. Went to the hardware store and was able to find the correct bolts. Returned back to the shop and installed the unit. Got my dust control installed to hose and proceeded to cut. It captures 95% of the dust. Absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend this unit without a doubt.

The collector was not compatible with my 2011 DW718 Dewalt saw.
They should have a way to differentiate. The part they sell has 2 mounting screws that go into the body of the saw. Mine has a single screw that goes into a boss outside the body of the saw at right angles to the air flow.

It works exactly as you stated it would. I am happy with how it picks up the saw dust. I gave it a 4 star because on the second cut the blade caught a small chunk of wood and chipped the plastic where the rubber attaches. If that could be made of metal some way it would be better.

pretty good thus far. Chalking up the DW718 just wasnt meant to be a dust collector but more a dust creator. Installation was a little challenging, on the DW718 there are a few extra steps to get the original dust sleeve out, 2 screws on the back remove a plate and then another screw inside, it just doesnt pull off like the video states

I had a difficult time removing the original plastic dust port but the new dust port installed in a matter of minutes. Dust collection efficiency appears to be around 90-95%. Very pleased!

The Shop Nation collector didn't capture 100 percent of the sawdust, but it it performed better than I expected. It captures virtually all the sawdust above and behind the piece you are cutting. There is still some dust on my saw stand from the blade protruding below the workpiece, but the amount of dust that gets into the air is so small that I actually made a few cuts without wearing a mask and didn't gag on sawdust. One caution: don't try cutting without your vacuum running. If you do the collector is also very efficient at throwing all the dust back at your face.

I needed to cut some short pieces of wood on the Dewalt and decided it would be a good time to install the dust collector. I brought my laptop into the shop and followed along with the video as I worked and everything installed quickly and easily. The instructions were great! I hooked up a shop vac and cut about 6 pieces. Very little escaped! I wish I had this when I bought the saw many years ago. Thanks for a great product.

Like an idiot when I installed it I had never moved the lower guards, they move left and right, so when I came down across the saw your flap blocked the dust. Boy was this crappy on your part. Saw your video again and noticed the guards. My fault not yours, working great, thanks alot.

I just finished installing it. I have a very old saw and the existing exhaust tube was actually bolted on internally. Not a problem after I figured that out. What remains does not interfere with the new dust collection apparatus. This I have now tested and love everything about it. What a difference this is going to make in the future. Certainly works better than the one I had originally on my DW 718 Dewalt compound miter saw. Significant amount of sawdust is certainly going into it but I'm not going to say it it's a massive improvement. Sawdust Is still hitting the ground. Though it's still better than the original that came with the saw out of the box.

The dust collector was easy to install. The unit does a good job of collecting saw dust. The key is to slow down when making the cut. Looks like the system will capture 80% - 90% of the saw dust. Worth the money.

Vastly improved the dust collection! The only problem was the flexible shield was too flimsy and sucked back into the housing when I turned on my shop vac. I have been assured that a firmer shield is on the way. Until then, I found a suitable solution using a scrap of PVC shower liner. Great design!

The video instructions for removing the factory parts are wrong for the DW718 saw, at least for the one that I have. It wasn't that hard to figure out how to get the old parts out once I realized there was a screw that had to be removed. The new parts fit and work very well.

I have a Dewalt DW718 sliding compound miter saw, I cut miters in either direction without having to disconnect from the dust collector. I have it connected to my shop vac and almost all of the dust was caught. I was skeptical until I got it connected and put it to use. Cut my clean up time by 95%. Installation video was helpful, and the pieces all fit well. I had trouble with the two #30 star bolts holding the rear blade guard on. They’re not meant to come off easily, I guess. Bought a new Klein wrench and the installation went well after that. Works great and fits my Festool dust extractor perfectly.

Game changer for a 15 yr old DW718.
Putting silicone on the adapters prevent the plastics sticking together.
Also needed to bend the guard linkage bar as it was rubbing the collection housing, a little silicone helped also.

much better dust collector than stock and custom tent! however i dislike the fact i need to remove for every blade change.. its about 1/16" away from not being a problem and seems like this can be adjusted on their 3d printer for the next batch they make. also the rubber dust collecting flange hits 4x material when saw makes its way down. other than that it does what i need it to... keep the shop and jobsite dust down by about 75+%

The Dewalt 718 dust collector is great! It installed exactly as you described in about 5 minutes. The original one captured almost no dust and this new one captures almost all the dust. Great design, easy installation, excellent dust collection.
